From NIV to NBC, Something Was Lost In Translation.
Quite frankly, this whole show is in poor taste and clearly offensive to Christians, but this alone is insufficient to distinguish it from myriad other shows and even entire channels. Where “Daniel” crosses the line, however, is in its depiction of Jesus Christ (the Lord God, Creator of the Universe, and Sacrificial Savior of the World) in merely a buddy-like advisory capacity. The fact that “Jesus” will be spouting NBC’s dialogue is inexcusable and blasphemous.
Of course, I’m sure NBC will demonstrate its commitment to diversity when it runs the spin-off “The Book of Aasim.” In this high-drama mini-series an Islamic cleric is routinely visited by an incarnate Allah who advises him on both his personal and professional struggles. At work it’s the daily grind of “hijack this” and “blow up that,” while at home his cowardly son refuses to strap a bomb to his chest, his daughter is dating a Jew, and his wife has surreptitiously learned to read. How can one man juggle a despotic grip on his family and a demanding career of international terror? Find out in this week’s episode.
