Feminism is, without question, one of the more absurd philosophies I have encountered. While claiming to be acting in the interests of the female populace, its leaders denigrate those women who choose to stay home and raise their children. Even in just this single facet, we see Feminism’s true colors – political activism.
How could a group devoted to the advocacy of women turn against those whom it is sworn to protect? Silence from the Feminist front greeted Paula Jones, Juanita Broderick, and others who brought cases of sexual harassment and rape against Bill Clinton. Where were the outrage and raucous demonstrations to which the Feminists have often treated us? Certainly we remember them from the Clarence Thomas trials, so where were they for this event? (My guess: two words – “Group Pedicure”) But in the end, we have a group of activists who are swayed more by their political affiliations than by the very purpose for which they claim to exist.
Despite all of this however, I find other aspects of Feminism to be even more amusing. We are dealing here with a group of individuals who claim to be equal with their male counterparts. Listen to their rhetoric for the catchphrase “just as good as men” – it hangs thickly in their speech, and often rightfully so. However, this rabble will make statements championing equality and in the same breath pronounce condemnation on those with whom they claim to be equal. In essence: “We are the same as men. Men are scum.”
To further demonstrate the absurdity of Feminism, we need only to examine the actions of Feminists themselves. The behaviors which they revile men for exhibiting are the very behaviors they themselves exhibit as demonstrations of their liberation. Take for example any situation in which a man acts in a way that is considered to be “traditionally male” (ie: burping, swearing, gawking, etc…) he is a pig, a chauvinist, and a sexual harasser. However, when a woman acts in this way it is because she is liberated. So what was all that stuff about equality?
Though born of bitterness and fraught with hypocrisy, Feminism is nonetheless held aloft for praise – a religious icon of the left. It would not always have survived in our country but we now live in a society that has long been cultivated by political correctness.
As a result we have become more interested in altering the superficial symptoms than in changing the underlying causes. No true male chauvinist has had a change of heart because Rutgers University decided to change the spelling of “women” to “womyn“. This and others like it are acts designed to grab attention and incite anger. They have not helped anyone to escape oppression, nor do they do anything to remedy some very real problems.
By continuing to polarize the genders, Feminists are perpetuating the very problems they claim to battle. Perhaps they do this because it keeps them relevant and enables them to maintain a power base. Sounds like very “male” behavior to me.

Tiffany S. added these pithy words on Aug 27 07 at 3:41 pmAs a woman who has been around many “feminists” and found their arguments horribly lacking, I must agree with you! Unfortunately, I believe the problem stemms from women preferring men who might as well be women themselves. Yay for REAL men!!!
